Elden Ring's engine has well-known shader compilation and borderless sync issues. Here is the optimal config:
1. In Windows: Enable 'Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling' (HAGS) in Graphics Settings.
2. In Nvidia Control Panel:
- Set 'Shader Cache Size' to 10GB or Unlimited (fixes open world traversal stutter).
- Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance.
- Max Frame Rate: Lock at 59 FPS (smooths out the 60hz frame pacer).
3. In-Game Settings:
- Ray Tracing: Completely OFF (it has huge CPU overhead in this title).
- Volumetric Quality: Medium (virtually identical to High, gives +8-12% FPS).
- Shadow Quality: High or Medium.
- Motion Blur & Depth of Field: OFF for sharper response.
Increasing the Shader Cache Size to 10GB in Nvidia Control Panel completely eliminated the micro-stutters when riding Torrent between zones. Definitely test that first!
